College Success Coaching
Support for the transition after the acceptance letter
Getting into college is a huge milestone—but it’s just the beginning. College comes with a whole new set of expectations, freedoms, and responsibilities, and most students are expected to “just figure it out.” Our College Success Coaching gives students a thoughtful, ongoing support system so they can not only survive college, but actually enjoy it.
This is not traditional tutoring. It’s one-on-one coaching focused on helping students build the academic, executive functioning, and life skills they need to thrive on campus.
What we help with.
-
We work with students to build schedules that fit them—not some generic idea of the “perfect” college student. That might mean:
Avoiding stacked days if long stretches of classes are draining
Steering clear of 8 a.m. lectures if mornings are tough
Choosing the right combination of major, minor, and elective classes
Using professor ratings, course descriptions, and degree requirements to make informed choices
-
College grading often comes down to a few big exams or papers instead of nightly homework. That shift can be brutal. We help students:
Break down long-term projects and study plans
Use calendars and task systems that actually get used (not abandoned after Week 2)
Build weekly routines that balance classes, studying, work, and downtime
Learn how to bounce back from procrastination or a rough grade
-
Being in the “right” college doesn’t automatically mean you’ve found your people. We support students as they:
Explore clubs, organizations, and communities that match their interests and identity
Navigate homesickness, roommate dynamics, and social overwhelm
Make sustainable choices about social life, rest, and academics
-
Colleges are full of support systems—students just aren’t always taught how to use them. We coach students to:
Access academic accommodations and disability services
Take advantage of office hours and build relationships with professors
Use the writing center, tutoring centers, and other academic supports
Know when and how to reach out for mental health resources
-
We zoom out so students can see how today’s choices shape their future. Together, we work on:
Long-term academic planning (majors, minors, study abroad, etc.)
Mapping out summers for internships, jobs, research, or meaningful experiences
Finding and applying for internships, fellowships, and on-campus roles
Building a college résumé that reflects real growth, not just a list of memberships
-
We also help students step confidently into the professional world by:
Crafting and refining résumés and LinkedIn profiles
Practicing interview skills and networking conversations
Learning how to email professors, supervisors, and mentors effectively
Who this is for
Our College Success Coaching is a great fit for:
First-year students navigating the transition from high school to college
Neurodivergent students (ADHD, anxiety, etc.) who benefit from structure, reminders, and accountability
Students who did well in high school but are worried about managing college independence
Students who want a trusted adult in their corner who’s not a parent, professor, or RA
How it works
1:1 virtual coaching sessions (typically weekly or biweekly)
Personalized game plan built around the student’s schedule, goals, and challenges
Ongoing accountability via check-ins, planning tools, and skill-building over time
Collaboration with families as needed, while still centering student independence
